A Walk on the Wilde Side

A fab time was had by all on a wonderful walk led by amazing new Ourstory member Andrew Le Flohic (ALF) in the Brighton Fringe Festival. In a charmingly camp touch, carnations were distributed to the assembled hordes before we were led on an exhilarating trawl through Brighton's queer past.

We started at Brighton railway station where the handsome features of Victoria Sackville-West contorted in fury on reading in the newspaper that her lover, Violet Trefusis, had just got engaged. The walk took in houses associated with Aubrey Beardsley, Gilbert Harding (once known as the rudest man in Britain), and Charlotte Mew.

Andrew received a well-deserved round of applause at the final stop, outside the Museum where he urged us to visit the Edward James exhibition.
