If you love to swing your partner, you can get the Pride weekend off to a flying start at Brighton Ourstory's Grand Barn Dance on Friday, 1st August. With music from the Ceilidh Crew, a cash bar and food included in the ticket price of £7.50 (£6 concessions), this event promises to be fun-filled and excellent value for money.

Come and join our grand barn danceDon't worry if you've been put off ceilidhs in the past because you had to pretend your partner was a member of the opposite sex – or even had to dance with a member of the opposite sex and not your partner! At the Ourstory Barn Dance you can dance with whoever you like – in a truly Gay Gordons.

The dance will take place at Middle Street School in central Brighton from 7.30pm till 11pm.

A registered charity, Brighton Ourstory is raising money to help care for its fantastic collections of memorabilia from Brighton’s lesbian, gay and bisexual communities. The collections contain photographs, memories and all manner of items from life in Brighton over the last sixty years.

Linda Pointing, one of Ourstory's trustees said, "I've long loved a good barn dance but wanted one suited to dancing with same-sex partners. So this was an ideal opportunity to push the boundaries a bit, put on a fun event for Pride and get some much-needed cash to boost our funds."

Tickets can be booked in advance by ringing 01273 206655 or send cheques payable to Brighton Ourstory to PO Box 2861, Brighton BN2 1UN.

This event is funded by Brighton Pride.
